This seasons Sunderland & District Silver Jacks final featured the Barley Mow father & son pairing of Bobby and Brian Sanderson who were attempting to become the first pair to retain the Jacks for three consecutive years, standing in there way was the Barnes Park pairing of substitute Michael Davis and Tommy Jopling. The final was played at Roker Park in front of a decent crowd, the first end set the tone for the final as the Sanderson’s collected a seven, despite this set back Jopling responded with a five and by the seventh end the score was 10-8 in Sanderson’s favour. The Barley Mow pairs hopes of a third title were lifted with counts of five on the 8^th and 11^th ends to lead 23-9 and with the writing on the wall for the Barnes duo they decided to shake hands on the 16^th end with the score at 26-14 to leave the father and son partnership to write there own piece of history.
