There was some disappointing news for the County Under 25 double fours squad as the county took the decision to drop out of this years competition, a change in format will see the last sixteen counties travelling to Worthing and had the squad defeated Nottinghamshire the strain on the counties finances may have contributed to the decision to the decision to drop out.

With the Sunderland & District league season only in its second week already the leagues have suffered withdrawals, in the Storey Bowl Mowbray withdrew while Dawdon have withdrawn from both the Earl Cup and Swan Cup, with the majority of clubs constantly struggling to field teams of sixteen twice a week the time to change the format to three rinks will come under even more scrutiny.
