SILKSWORTH WIN 3-2-1 TITLE
Silksworth
lifted the first Sunderland & District title after they defeated Hetton
Workmen’s in this season’s knock-out
3-2-1
triples final. Silksworth were looking for their seventh
title with the last being in 2001 while Hetton were looking for their first
3-2-1
title. With Norman Shield’s being this years Sunderland
& District president the final was played on his own green at Whitburn and
despite playing into the sun for most of the game both teams produced a good
standard of play despite the tricky playing surface. Hetton will count
themselves unlucky to lose as they actually finished down on only one of the
four rinks but the 74-34 defeat inflicted on Peter Harding by Silksworth’s
Kevin Dyson, John Holmes and Ronnie Hart proved enough for Silksworth to take
the honours and a seventh 3-2-1 title.
